Naomi Gilby

BA Hons Fine Art

Leeds Metropolitan University

I am a conceptually based artist with practices ranging from site specific installation and performance to illustrative poetry, taking inspiration from constantly looming social issues. Audience participation and interaction often reflects on how my work progresses, constantly steering my ideas in directions unknown to myself. I currently study and practice in Leeds, having previously studied and worked in Estonia. My contribution to this 1978 exhibition is a performance piece which is a continuation of a previous performance 'Manual Labour'.

My piece is short silent film, with it’s main focal point a female mouth reacting in slow motion to side effects of ecstasy , a component common in the rave scene. The film itself is silent, however has been shown before with vinyl acid house & trance music.
