"With the overwhelming success of our previous exhibition, and the reception it was given from the people of Manchester, I am pleased to announce that 1978 will be showcasing its second event in association with Manchester Fashion Week at Federation House, on the 17th - 20th April.

Similiar to the previous 1978, the event will consist of submitted artworks from students within Universities across the North West. As well as this, I took the decision this time around to accept submissions from external artists, either from an institutional or self-taught background. My reason for doing so was to promote an interaction between students and established practitioners, as I myself, am soon to be making that transition from University into full-time work.

The aim of this exhibition was to highlight the importance of contemporary art, and film, in past and present day culture. The artworks vary in terms of theme, medium, and scale, as we plan to exhibit an array of different projection based films, sculptures, paintings, digital and photographic prints.

Our location is an exciting one to say the least! Based in the heart of the city centre (just shy of Shudehill Interchange), Federation House is a concrete metropolis, which, in my opinion is full of potential to house some really unique, and innovative pieces."
