Documenting the love of music through forms of dancing. Exploring peoples response to music through photography and filming. In relation to the title it is a documentation of peoples skanks which is a name given to the way people dance to electronic music.”I was inspired to take on this project through my own experiences. Having grown up in Manchester and being involved in the manchester music and rave scenes and having a strong passion for music and dancing myself. I choose to document people ‘skanking’ as its a dance form i have been surrounded by for many years and I feel it beautifully expresses people’s love of music.

During my time at LMU i have mainly been working digitally from photography to filming and mainly fashion orientated. I create garments for fashion editorials collaborating with MUA’s and sometimes other photographers to create unique fashion editorials. However, i don’t only work digitally creating costumes and fabric based artworks as well as screen printing and mono-printing. I am a media neutral artist and my strength is definitely my ideas whether they be concept or aesthetically based. The aim of the majority of my work is to change perspectives or create awareness about a certain topic. My photography is based on fashion, beauty, people and places and a lot of my work is produced to advertise my website www.lunarrising.com.

Previous film work i have produced include music videos and short documentaries which all can be viewed in the moving image section of my site. Outside of university, i exhibit and attend exhibitions. I create clothing collections to sell or source and collect vintage and second hand clothing which i re-work and re-sell. I’m also busy coming up with new ideas for collections and fashion editorials. Updating and keeping in touch with my followers through social media and blogs. The time of the exhibition i shall also be presenting 6 of my outfits at Manchester fashion Week Graduate Show, which i am currently busy preparing for.
